We (dad, mom and I) left our house at 6am to head to the STL airport. Once we got there we checked in and got our bags checked - mine was under 50 pounds thankfully 😅Dad travels A LOT for work so we got to wait for our flight in the Admirals Club.

We flew from STL to MIA (Miami International) which is just under 3 hours. Our seats on this plane were in first class (yay yay). In MIA, dad took me to the flagship Admirals Club Lounge. Our flight from MIA to Milan Malpensa left later in the evening and was about 10 hours (sadly, not first class this flight). Unfortunately, it was an older plane model so there were not screens for each seat. However, on the bright side, they played a Wrinkle In Time for everyone to watch after feeding us dinner. Since it was an overnight flight, we all went to sleep right after the movie was over (worst I have ever slept on a plane).

Once we got into Milan we had to go through customs and get our luggage. After this, we then
had to drop our luggage back off and go back through security to get on our flight to Rome. None of us could stay awake on our flight from Milano to Roma 😬We got into Rome, went to the hotel, explored a little, ate dinner and went to sleep!
The hotel we were staying at while in Rome was the Mediterraneo. The view out my room was beautiful (the picture to the right), the rooftop restaurant was delicious with an incredible view and the rooms were cute with inlayed wood floors and wooden wardrobes.

Today we are going to Pompeii in the morning and Naples in the afternoon! For this day trip, we scheduled with Viator. Our director and driver picked us up at our hotel at 7am (😴) to head down to Pompeii. Once we got to Pompeii, we were dropped off with a local guide to show us around the ancient city. I love Roman history, so being able to see Pompeii was an incredible experience for me.

From Pompeii we went to Bosco de' Midici for lunch and a tour of the winery. I’m not going to lie, this was some of the best food I had in Italy (actually all three wineries we went to were the best food I had in Italy). First, they served bread with tomatoes and olive oil, then a plate with bruschetta, mozzarella, cheese, salami, eggplant and a rice ball. After this, we were served pasta with red sauce (it was so good omg) and of course through the whole meal we tasted 4 different types of wine - two reds and two whites.
When we finished lunch we headed to Naples where we drove around to see the city and
headed back to Rome. Once we got back to our hotel we changed, went to our Welcome Meeting for the tour and then went to our Welcome Dinner at the rooftop restaurant at our hotel (the image to the left is me on the rooftop). For dinner, we had Prosecco and bread to start then we had risotto, pork and potatoes (and wine of course).
I know this post wasn’t as interesting as you may have hoped since it was about travel and the first day. However, the other posts should be more interesting and I hope to be posting more soon! I have sorority work week starting this coming weekend so we will see!
XO,
Rose
